GSIS Contribution Table 2026: How Much You and Your Agency Pay

Every month, you and your government agency both pay into GSIS. Your share comes out of your salary; your agency’s share is paid on top of it. Those contributions are what fund your life insurance coverage and, eventually, your pension — so it pays to know exactly how much goes in.

The GSIS contribution rates (RA 8291)

Under Section 5 of the GSIS Act of 1997 (RA 8291), contributions are a percentage of your monthly compensation:

Who paysRateShare name
You (the member)9% of monthly compensationPersonal Share (PS)
Your agency (employer)12% of monthly compensationGovernment Share (GS)
Total21%

Your 9% is deducted from your pay every month. The 12% government share does not come out of your salary — your agency pays it separately, and it must remit both shares to GSIS.

What counts as monthly compensation

Contributions are based on your monthly compensation — essentially your basic monthly salary as a government employee. If your pay changes (promotion, step increment, salary standardization), your contributions change with it, because they are always a straight percentage.

The cap for very high earners

GSIS sets a Maximum Average Monthly Compensation (AMC) Limit for computing benefits. If your monthly compensation goes above that limit, the rule under RA 8291 is: you pay 9% on the amount up to the limit, plus 2% on the excess above it. The GSIS Board updates the limit from time to time, so check your payslip or ask GSIS for the current figure if you are a high earner.

Why your contributions matter

  • They build your pension. Your retirement benefit is computed from your Average Monthly Compensation (the average of your last 36 months). See how much pension your salary translates to with our GSIS Pension Calculator.
  • They keep your life insurance active. Part of the contribution funds your compulsory GSIS life insurance while you are in service.
  • Gaps can hurt you. Missing or unremitted contributions can affect your loan eligibility and your credited years of service. If a payslip shows a deduction but GSIS has no record of it, raise it with your agency’s liaison officer right away.

How to check your contributions

You can view your posted contributions through the GSIS Touch mobile app or by visiting a GSIS branch. If your record looks incomplete, bring your payslips — they are your proof of deduction. For official help, call the GSIS Contact Center at 8847-4747 or email gsiscares@gsis.gov.ph.
